Breathing

Proper breathing is vital to the execution of techniques and spiritual uniformity. Typical breathing involved the intake of air through the nose and exhales through the mouth. During the execution of any technique, the exhale of air occurs at the moment of contact for maximum effect. A simple exercise that can enhance one's breathing and maintain spiritual uniformity involves a gentle intake of as much air as possible. You should feel like the air is filling not only your lungs but your stomach and abdomen as well. When you can not take in any more air, open your mouth and quietly exhale the air smoothly and gently. When you feel that you have exhaled all the air out, tighten all your muscles, particularly your abdomen muscles and exhale again. Finally, with all your might, exhale the last bit of air out.

This may seem extreme in theory but trials will show that this breathing technique is useful in regulating and strengthening your diaphragm. Chinese Goju will provide proper instruction to this and other breathing techniques to develop your breathing skills in conjunction with other techniques.
