10 Tips For Keeping Motivated

Have you noticed that it seems more difficult to get going in the morning? Are you making excuses to miss the gym? Well, you are not alone. For over the past 20 years I myself have made excuses. To realize that your burning out is one thing but to know why is another. I have put together the top 10 tips to keep you motivated and to put back the enthusiasm into your workout.

  • Vary Your Current Routine

  • Every 6-8 weeks you should make some changes in your weight training and cardiovascular exercises. Such as using dumbbells instead of machines, or try kickboxing instead of the treadmill.

  • Be Daring

  • Try something new that you always wanted to try. Challenge yourself to a new event such as kickboxing or rock climbing. It will sure put a twist to your workout. Don't be afraid to dare yourself.

  • Get a Training Partner

  • Having a partner will improve the quality of your workouts and motivate you when your enthusiasm is low.

  • Make Short Term Goals

  • Set small goals that are realistic to attain. Taking small steps towards your goals will keep you focus and make each workout meaningful.

  • Keep a Journal of Your Progress

  • The best way to track your progress is to record your training sessions. This allows you to adjust your routine as necessary.

  • Don't Be Hard On Yourself

  • Sometimes life will throw you a curve ball such as illness, unexpected appointments, or time restraints. Do not let a few missed sessions throw you off course. Stay forced and handle each situation one at a time.

  • Treat Yourself

  • After many weeks and months of hard work and discipline, you should treat yourself to that new shirt or jeans that you always wanted. How about getting your nails done or a relaxing massage. After all you desire it!

  • Enjoy The Benefits Of Exercise

  • Did you ever feel that "high" feeling after exercising? Did you ever step out of the shower after a workout and look in the mirror and see how much you have improved? Remember that for your next training session. This will motivate you when you feel like not training next time.

  • Taking A Necessary Lay-Off

  • After a few hard months of training you really need to take a little time off. This will help heal your body and also recharge your batteries. Some signs of burn-out are: not sleeping well, lack of motivation, low energy levels are just a few to let you know to take a break. Learn to listen to your body.

  • Stay Committed

  • You must always first be true to yourself. Excuses are easy to make but being committed shows character in a person.

Well there you have it, remember to always train at your own pace and concentrate on your specific goals. Keep a positive attitude and be consistent with your training. Results come from hard work. There are no free passes. Your success begins and ends with YOU.
